Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Teachers

Don’t let the world of AI overwhelm you. Give it a try little by little. The following examples are ways you can quickly leverage AI to give you back some time, enhance a lesson plan, or differentiate a project.

AI Quick Start Checklist for Teachers

Identify a "Time-Sink": Pick one repetitive task (e.g., drafting a parent newsletter or creating a 10-question quiz) and ask an AI to generate the first draft.

Test for Differentiation: Input a complex article and ask the AI to "rewrite this at a 5th-grade reading level" to see how it can help you support diverse learners.

Fact-Check a "Hallucination": Generate a short biography of a historical figure and intentionally look for one or two "hallucinated" facts. This is a great exercise to show students why human oversight is non-negotiable.

Update Your Syllabus: Add a brief note or hold a class discussion about when AI is a "helpful assistant" (brainstorming) versus when it might hinder their learning (writing an entire essay).

Start a "Prompt Library": Keep a running document of prompts that worked well for you, such as: "Create three different project options for a unit on ecosystems that cater to visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners."
