Seguin ISD employee tests positive for coronavirus

Today, Seguin ISD administration was informed that a Seguin High School coach received positive results from a June 3 COVID-19 test.

The coach is currently self quarantining for 14 days at home. After not feeling well on June 3, the coach was tested the same day and received the results on June 4.

On May 31, coaches met with a group of five student athletes at Seguin High School where physical distancing was practiced. Employees and the parents of student athletes who attended this meeting, plus others who have been in contact with the coach over the last several days, have been notified.

Scheduled strength and conditioning activities for student athletes will be pushed back at least two weeks.

Seguin High School Maintenance staff will deep clean offices, work and meeting areas in and around the Athletics Department.

District administrators have been in contact with the Guadalupe County Office of Emergency Management and the Texas Department of State Health Services (Region 8) regarding the employee’s positive test results.

Seguin ISD school buildings have been closed to student instruction since March 16 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
