Seguin ISD teachers receive Teacher Incentive Allotment designation
04/01/2026

SEGUIN, Texas (March 31, 2026) – Seguin Independent School District is proud to announce that 38 teachers will receive new or higher Texas Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) designations. Last school year, 17 teachers received TIA designations, and of those, seven earned higher ones this year.

District leaders, board trustees, and the Seguin High School band and cheerleaders surprised teachers who met the Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) rigorous data validation process. These teachers, who received new or higher designations, serve Seguin ISD students at ten schools: Ball Early Childhood Center, Jefferson Elementary, Koennecke Elementary, McQueeney Elementary, Patlan Elementary, Rodriguez Elementary, Vogel Elementary, Weinert Elementary, Briesemeister Middle School, and Seguin High School.

“We doubled the number of new and higher-designated TIA teachers from last year to this year,” Seguin ISD Superintendent Dr. Jack Lee said. “This growth is proof of what our team already knows: we have amazing teachers working in Seguin ISD, and I am incredibly proud of them.”

The 2025-2026 school year marks the second year that Seguin ISD has submitted teachers for the TIA program, which provides teachers with a pathway to increase their yearly salary. With this year’s designations and previously designated teachers who joined the district this school year, Seguin ISD now has 52 designated teachers who will receive additional compensation provided directly by the state when they return in August.

“It’s a great opportunity for our teachers,” Dr. Lee said. “We look forward to expanding the TIA program again next year in Seguin ISD.  Not only is that an opportunity to recognize more of our outstanding educators, but it is also in line with our strategic plan of increasing TIA designations.”

Teachers must meet district standards to qualify for Recognized, Exemplary, or Master designations. TEA and Texas Tech University review data for quality and reliability before approval.

Those who earn the distinction will receive the awarded amount each year for five years. Several factors, including their designation, determine each teacher’s one-time compensation sum. Information on the state’s TIA program can be found at https://tiatexas.org/.
