A MASSive undertaking by Seguin ISD choirs

SEGUIN, Texas (Nov. 16, 2022) – Members of the Seguin ISD Choral program will participate in
their first Masterwork Performance since the early 2000s on Dec. 9, 7 p.m., at the Seguin High School
Performing Arts Center. The high school choirs and members of middle school choirs will perform John
Rutter’s Mass of The Children along with individual group songs to highlight the skills of the different
choirs combining for the mass.

Beginning in early October, student singers from around Seguin undertook this 35-minute masterwork,
which includes youth treble choir, mixed choir, soprano and baritone soloists, and a chamber orchestra.
Mass of the Children weaves together text of the traditional Latin mass with poems from Thomas Ken,
William Blake and John Rutter.

“This is going to be a truly different winter concert experience for all who attend and we invite all
community members to attend and support this free performance of John Rutter’s Mass of the Children.
While this is a free performance to the public, we encourage all attendees to support the Seguin ISD
Choral Program through donation or participation in our silent auction during the performance,” said Dr.
Samuel Parrott, Seguin ISD head choir director.
