Seguin ISD Opens New Playground at Ball Early Childhood Center
11/03/2026

SEGUIN, Texas (November 3, 2026)—Seguin ISD is excited to announce the opening of its newest addition, a new playground at Ball Early Childhood Center. The playground replaces equipment that served the campus for more than 20 years, giving the district's youngest Matadors an improved space to play, learn, and grow.

Staff at Ball ECC cut the ribbon on the new playground on Friday, Oct. 30, shortly before students had their first opportunity to enjoy the school's newest space and equipment.

"We are so grateful and excited to offer our pre-K students a brand-new outdoor space designed to spark curiosity and joy," said Debra Reiley, Principal of Ball Early Childhood Center. "This environment gives our youngest learners dedicated areas to play, explore, and strengthen their fine and gross motor skills as they grow."

The project was made possible through interest earnings generated from existing bond funds, which allowed Seguin ISD to address much-needed campus improvement while making the most of its available resources. Unlike funds used for the district's day-to-day operations, bond proceeds and interest earned on those funds can only be used for authorized capital expenditures, such as facility construction, renovations, and improvements. The district cannot use these funds for operational expenses, such as salaries, supplies, or operating costs.

"Every decision we make should come back to what is best for our students," Superintendent Dr. Jack Lee said. "This new playground is a great example of how we can be responsible with taxpayer dollars while continuing to invest in the learning environments our students deserve. We’re grateful to our community for its continued support and the trust they place in us to make the most of every dollar."

The Ball campus serves more than 400 students in pre-K classes for three- and four-year-olds. The district opened a new classroom wing at Ball in 2024 using additional Bond 2019 funds.
