Seguin ISD has received an 'A' rating under the School Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) for the 10th consecutive year. 

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) recently released its final financial accountability ratings for Texas public school systems for the 2024-2025 school year. Seguin ISD is among the 85 percent of districts that received an 'A' for the "Superior Achievement" rating. 

“This superior rating reflects the hard work, dedication, and careful stewardship of our Seguin ISD staff, especially our Business Services team,” Superintendent Dr. Jack Lee said. “Our community is dedicated to shaping brighter futures, and responsible financial stewardship is a key part of that commitment. I am incredibly proud of how our team manages resources with transparency and purpose to support the success of every student.” 

The 2024-2025 ratings reflect districts' annual financial reports for the 2023-2024 fiscal year, which TEA reviews and rates. These reviews focus on 21 financial indicators, and auditors look for accuracy and financial vulnerabilities in each report. 

Seguin ISD has earned an 'A' rating for its financial accountability since the 2015-2016 Ratings when TEA shifted from a pass/fail system to letter ratings. The District consistently received a "Passing" rating under the previous system from its inception in 2001 through the 2015-2016 school year.

“FIRST standards reflect the high level of financial accountability expected of Texas school districts," Seguin ISD Chief Financial Officer Elizabeth Banks said. “Seguin ISD remains fully committed to responsible budgeting and practices that protect taxpayer resources and support our students.”
