The Seguin ISD Board of Trustees has named Dr. Jack Lee as Superintendent as of its special meeting earlier this evening. The Board named Dr. Lee its lone finalist in June and waited the state-mandated 21-day period to hold a final vote at tonight’s meeting.
Dr. Lee comes to Seguin from Bullard ISD, where he served as superintendent and led the 4A district to an “A” rating, restructured the district’s curriculum, established a mental health support system, and successfully passed a $103 million bond to help fund new Facilities.
His prior experience includes five years with Blooming Grove ISD, where he served as a high school principal and eventually superintendent. He also previously served as an assistant principal and band director at Hillsboro ISD.
Dr. Lee holds a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Music Education from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Doctor of Education from Texas A&M University-Commerce. A native of Whitney, Texas, Dr. Lee also played basketball, performed in the high school band, and served as senior class president at Whitney High School. His wife Jessica also works for Bullard ISD; they have two children, Jackson (14) and Emmy (10).
The Board would like to thank several people for their assistance in the search process, including the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Executive Search Services, the staff at the Seguin ISD Irma Lewis Outdoor Learning Center, the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority, Seguin Mayor Donna Dodgen, Seguin City Manager Steve Parker, Seguin ISD Superintendent Secretary Nancy Ramirez, and the Seguin community for their support and feedback in the search process.
The trustees would also like to thank the District’s interim Superintendent and Chief Financial Officer, Elizabeth Banks, for her leadership over the last two months. Dr. Lee expects to start with Seguin ISD by the end of July.
