SEGUIN, Texas (June 22, 2023) – Dr. Veronica Vijil, superintendent of Fabens ISD in El Paso
County, has accepted the position of deputy superintendent for Seguin ISD.
Prior to her superintendency, which began in 2019, Dr. Vijil was Canutillo ISD’s associate
superintendent. She has worked in education for over 30 years having also served Ysleta and
Spring ISDs. She earned a Doctorate of Education at Sam Houston University, a Master of
Education at Indiana Wesleyan University, and a Bachelor of Science at The University of Texas
at El Paso. Her administrative certificate is from The University of Houston.
“I look forward to Dr. Vijil becoming an integral part of our Seguin ISD family. She has an
extensive background in Texas public education and brings a skillset that will benefit our
students and staff. She is a well-respected leader who shares our values toward providing the best
possible education to each and every student.
As deputy superintendent, Dr. Vijil will oversee the day-to-day operations of learning and
innovation while working closely with campus administration teams.

deputy superintendent for the Seguin ISD. I am looking forward to working with students,
teachers, staff, administration, and the entire Seguin community. I am committed to the success

Her first day with Seguin ISD is slated for July 1.
