Seguin Early College High School Alumnus Spotlight
02/27/2019

Katie PothKatie Poth is currently attending Texas State University and studying toward a BBA in Accounting. She has shared the following insight into her Early College High School experience at Seguin High School.

Impact of ECHS:

It made me an extremely diligent student. I have developed all of the skills necessary to be successful in college. The rigorous classes I took in the ECHS program made me extremely ready to jump into my junior year at my university.

Most important lesson:

DO NOT EVER PROCRASTINATE! It sounds so simple, but it is so hard to do. There is no lesson I value more than being able to manage my time and get the worst assignments done on time!

Important faculty:

I had many inspirational moments during my time at Seguin ECHS. Every one of my teachers inspired me during my senior year and many of my teachers from earlier grade levels did as well. They truly helped shape me into who I am today, and I could not be more grateful for them.

Advice for current students:

I know how hard it is to stay motivated, but trust me, it is so worth it when you get to college and you get to cross off everything you have already taken off of your degree plan. So stick to it, try your hardest and do not give up!

For 8th graders:

Getting two years of free college education is one of the most amazing things you can do for yourself. You will graduate from the university of your choice in two years, and then move on to pursue the job and life of your dreams. What more could you ever want?

My long term goal:

I want to become a CPA and work in corporate accounting.
