TASK FORCE OVERVIEW

Dr. Matthew Gutierrez’s 90-day Entry Plan for Seguin ISD includes the creation of four task force groups for the purpose of examining current trends, student data for all populations, practices and program design in student programs in the district. Task force groups will meet over a three-year period with the goal of developing and monitoring a plan of action to address areas of opportunity. The four task force groups, listed below, will be led by Curriculum and Instruction directors under the guidance of the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction.

  • Special Education - Halcy Martin-Dean, Special Education Director
  • Multilingual: Bilingual Education/ English as a Second Language - Dr. Venus Valenta, Director of Elementary Curriculum and Multilingual Education
  • GT / Advanced Academics - Allison Pape, Director of Secondary Education and Advanced Academics
  • Post Secondary Readiness - Danica Murillo, Director of Professional Learning

TASK FORCE MEMBERS

Ten members, not including the group lead, will make up the task force group. The following individuals may serve on each task force:

  • Parent (not an employee of the district) - no more than 2 per task force
  • Campus staff and administrators
    • Regular education teacher - minimum of 2 per task force
    • Special programs teacher (Bilingual, English as a Second Language, Gifted/Talented, Special Education) - minimum of 2 per task force
    • Counselor - no more than 1 per task force
    • Assistant principal - no more than 1 per task force
    • Principal - no more than 1 per task force
  • Central Office professional staff (as appropriate)
