Seguin ISD Employee Pay Raise
10/19/2016

On Oct. 25, the Board of Trustees will consider a significant pay raise for Seguin ISD employees. Following the successful passage of the TRE in September, district administration has been working to identify additional funding sources to add to the 4 percent teacher raise and a $1 per hour raise for hourly staff.

As a result, Seguin administration is proposing one of the largest annual pay raises in the past 10 years. Teachers will have a minimum 4 percent increase with an average of a 5.8 percent increase overall. The starting pay for teachers will be $45,500. At year 5, teachers will receive $49,400 which will be higher than New Braunfels, Comal, San Marcos and Hays. At year 10, teachers will receive $51,000, again paying higher than the districts previously mentioned. At year 15, the salary will be $53,125 which is higher than the surrounding areas with the exception of Schertz and Comal. At year 20, teachers will receive $54,250 which is competitive with New Braunfels, Comal and Hays.

The 2016-17 teacher salary schedule will be available for employees following the Oct. 25 board meeting. Individual employee compensation sheets will be calculated and distributed in the coming weeks.

Campus principals and assistant principals will also see a 4 percent salary increase, with other professional staff receiving a 3 percent average increase of the midpoint.

Clerical and auxiliary staff will see a minimum of $1 per hour increase with Food Service employees averaging a $2 hourly increase and bus drivers a $1.80 hourly increase. With these changes our starting salary pay for all bus drivers has been raised to $13.25 an hour.
