What is Athletic Training?
Athletic training encompasses the prevention, examination, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of emergent, acute or chronic injuries and medical conditions.
Who are Athletic Trainers?
Athletic trainers (ATs) are highly qualified, multi-skilled health care professionals who render service or treatment, under the direction of or in collaboration with a physician, in accordance with their education, training and the state's statutes, rules and regulations.
Student Athletic Training Aides
Athletic training student aides are Seguin High School students who, under supervision of the Licensed Athletic Trainers, help with first aid, prevention and management of athletic injuries, and operation of the AT facility. AT aides have the opportunity to work with Seguin athletic teams in the AT facility and on the sidelines at practices and games. Athletic training students are not managers or “water girls/boys''.
How Can I Get Involved?
The student athletic training program is selective and by invitation of the AT staff only. Criteria is based on:
• Your performance in Sports Medicine I
• Completing observation requirements
• Grades in all classes
• Attitude and behavior
• Conflicts with other activity involvement
If you feel like you have what it takes to be a part of the AT Program please contact Sarah Anderson or Chris Alvarado.
