The Seguin ISD Board of Trustees would like to keep the public informed on its search for its new superintendent. The board continues to accept applications for the position, with the application deadline approaching on Wednesday, May 21.
The board recently hired the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Executive Search Services to help with the search, as Dr. Veronica Vijil plans to retire. TASB held several meetings within the district and coordinated a public questionnaire to help build a profile for the new superintendent.
Once applications are closed, trustees will review them at a special meeting on Wednesday, May 28, and conduct their first round of interviews on Saturday, May 31. Candidates selected for a second interview will be invited back on Monday, June 9.
The board intends to vote to name its lone finalist on Tuesday, June 17, which will start the 21-day posted period as required by state law. Trustees expect to vote to hire the lone finalist on Thursday, July 10.
