Seguin ISD is celebrating its seventh consecutive year of
recognition as one of the Best Communities for Music Education. The district is among those
recognized by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM).
“We value music education for all children here in Seguin ISD,” said Dr. Veronica Vijil, Seguin
ISD superintendent. “This designation is proof that our district is recognized well beyond
Guadalupe County for the talents of our students and the dedication of our teachers.”
Districts recognized for the Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) award are chosen
for demonstrating a strong commitment to providing students with music education. According
to NAMM, the application process includes verified data on funding, instruction time,
participation, and community engagement.
Seguin ISD elementary students have several opportunities for music enrichment, including
regular classes, school choirs, and public performances. Band, choir, guitar, mariachi, and
musical theatre are offered at the secondary level in the district’s middle schools and high
school. These students are also provided the opportunity to compete in the University
Interscholastic League (UIL) music program.
2025 marks the 26th year for the Best Communities in Music Education award. Seguin ISD has
been selected annually for the honor since 2018.
