Seguin ISD will celebrate the addition of Matador Legends Ballpark with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 3, 2025.
The celebration will recognize the support of Seguin ISD voters for its 2023 bond. The new
facilities replace the more than 20-year-old softball field at Seguin High School and allow its
baseball team to play on campus.
The Board of Trustees accepted community nominations before voting to name the complex
and its batting cages in November 2024. The Board chose Matador Legends Ballpark to reflect
all student-athletes; the batting cages honor former Little League coach and softball mentor
Manuel Rodriguez and Chloe Belicek, an SHS softball player who passed away in July 2024.
The signs bearing Rodriguez’s and Belicek’s names are not yet available. Both Matadors will be
honored at this month’s ribbon-cutting and formally recognized once the signs are installed; that
date is not yet scheduled.
The public is invited to the ribbon-cutting on Monday, March 3. The ceremony is scheduled to
start at approximately 6:30 p.m.
