SEGUIN, Texas (March 24, 2023) – Mark Cantú, Seguin ISD deputy superintendent and chief innovation officer, is poised to lead a new statewide program with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and Education Service Center Region 20. He will serve as the Director for the Center for District Effectiveness where he will provide support for public schools across the state.

"TEA and Region 20 have taken notice of the work we are doing in Seguin ISD, and they have hired Mr. Cantú to build and lead their new program. He has played a major role during his five years of service with Seguin ISD and I know that he will be successful in this new venture moving forward. Our loss is TEA's gain," said Seguin ISD Superintendent Dr. Matthew Gutierrez.

The Center for District Effectiveness will be located at ESC-20 in San Antonio and will develop and utilize the Effective Districts Framework (EDF) as a foundational tool to build out a set of services referred to as the Texas Strategic Leadership program.

Cantú's last day with Seguin ISD will be April 14 and he will start his new position on April 17.
