Seguin FFA competing across the state

Seguin FFA

 

The Seguin FFA Department has been busy traveling the state for Career Development event season.

 

Stops have included Tarleton State University, Angelo State University, Fredericksburg High School and Katy High School plus multiple online contests.

 

“I am proud of these students for not only taking the time to study and prepare for these contests but for creating a positive environment in the uncertain times of the COVID pandemic,” said Krysta Kelso-Canham, Seguin High School agriculture educator and FFA advisor.

 

Veterinarian Science team members include Megan Bray, Kate Ryan, CJ Flores, Emily Kabrud, Emily Burt and Rae Lange. They finished 24th out of 36 teams at the Houston Livestock Show, 24th out of 171 at Tarleton, 14th out of 64 at Angelo State, 7th out of 27 at Fredericksburg, 5th out of 51 at Tomball and 23rd out of 67 at Katy. Individually, Flores was 17th out of 111 at Fredericksburg and 27th out of 296 at Katy while Ryan finished 9th out of 196 at Tomball.

 

The area contest is April 10 at Madison High School in San Antonio.

 

The Floriculture Team is composed of Melina Moore, Reagan Rodriguez, Myla Chavez, Hailey Tousek and Harley Thorton. At Tarleton they finished 28th out of 115 teams, 6th out of 20 at Angelo State, 14th out of 32 at Tomball and 31st out of 73 at Katy. Moore placed 9th out of 73 at the Angelo State competition.

 

The area contest is April 17 at Texas A&M University in College Station.

 

Taylor Civiletto, Mattisyn Townsend, Colby Wilke, Randall Wilke are on the Meat Judging team. They finished 19th out of 71 at Tarleton, 26th out 48 at Angelo State and 11th out of 21 at Fredericksburg.

 

The area contest is April 17 at Texas A&M University.

 

The Livestock Evaluation team of Kadie Erwin, Brant Wilhoit, Brenna Wilhoit, Morgan Carnes, Jackson Pond and Taylor Brawley was 50th out of 207 teams at the Houston Livestock Show, 112 out of 217 at Tarleton, 7th out of 114 at Angelo State and 39th out of 47 at Fredericksburg.

 

Kaelyn Rhodes, Brynlee Edwards, Jakob McCloud and Brock Anderson represent the Poultry Evaluation team that took 49th out of 106 teams at Tarleton and 26th out of 56 Angelo State.

 

Jeanne Woodlee and Garrett Bloch competed in Wildlife Evaluation and finished 13th and 14th at two contests in Ingram, 19th in Fredericksburg and 25th in Tomball. At the latter, Bloch took 16th out of 88 individually.
