This notification is to inform parents/guardians and former students of Seguin Independent School District’s intent to destroy the Special Education records of students who were no longer receiving Special Education services as of the end of the 2010-2011, 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 school years. These records will be destroyed in accordance with the state law.
Special Education records collected by Seguin Independent school district (SISD) related to the identification, evaluation, education placement, or the provision of special education services in the district, must be maintained under state and federal laws for a period of seven (7) years after special education services have ended for the student. Special Education services end when the student is no longer eligible for services, graduates, completes his or her educational program at the age of 22, or moves from the district.
