Matador Class of 2020 graduation slated for June 6
05/21/2020

Seguin High School will host a live graduation event for the Matador Class of 2020 on Saturday, June 6, 2020.

Due to the Matador Stadium rebuild project, the graduation ceremony will take place at Canyon High School Stadium, 1510 IH 35 in New Braunfels, at 8 p.m.

Due to social distancing guidelines, each graduate may have a total of 5 guests attend and the stands will be marked for family groups of five. Two year olds and younger do not need a ticket. Wristbands will be provided to graduates for their guests.

“We are fortunate to be able to offer our deserving graduates and their families a live graduation. Due to safety precautions, the ceremony will look a bit different compared to our traditional Matador commencement. But I’m glad we have the opportunity to honor the Matador Class of 2020 seniors in a safe, outdoor venue,” said Dr. Hector Esquivel, Seguin High School principal.

The June 6 event will be live streamed online and Seguin High School staff is moving forward with plans to host a virtual graduation on May 31 at 3 p.m.

Seniors will receive information from Seguin High School administration about picking up graduation materials including entry wristbands, designated parking passes, a parking map and more.

“We appreciate Comal ISD offering up Canyon Stadium free of charge for this special event,” Esquivel said.

Confetti, balloons, noisemakers, signs, posters, banners, streamers and beach balls are prohibited in the stadium. Each guest may bring in two unopened bottles of water.

If the live graduation event has to be cancelled due to weather related issues or unforeseen circumstances, it will not be rescheduled.
