Seguin ISD is proud of our two newest principals, approved during the March 31 regular school board meeting.
Yolanda Grijalva, principal, Rodriguez Elementary School
Mrs. Grijalva has been a leader at Rodriguez for the past three years, most recently as interim principal. Her expertise in bilingual education and literacy has helped transform teaching and learning. During her time at Rodriguez, the campus has launched the district’s second Two-Way Dual Language program and implemented initiatives to increase family engagement.
Dr. James Diaz, principal, Briesemeister Middle School
Dr. Diaz has served Seguin ISD as an academic dean and assistant principal at Seguin High School, district social studies coordinator and, most recently, as co-principal at Briesemeister. He possesses a wealth of instructional knowledge, expertise with the professional learning community process and the ability to implement systems of support for struggling and advanced learners. In his short time at Briesemeister, Dr. Diaz has helped create systems to improve intervention practices, internal and external communication, and discipline practices.
