Following regional competition in Helotes on Feb. 9, five Seguin ISD Destination Imagination (DI) teams have qualified for state competition in Corpus Christi on March 22-23.
In the Service Learning Challenge, the Seguin High School team of John Blair, Gage Compton, Leo de Leon, Serenity de Leon, Gabriella Mendrano and Christian Molina took first place and also earned a prestigious Renaissance award.
A first place finish in the Fine Arts Challenge for the Seguin High School team of Serenity de Leon, Christian Molina, Victoria Ramirez, Gabriela Ricon, Jaden Tovar and Karla Vazquez has earned a trip to state for the members.
The Barnes Middle School team of Brylynn Baker, Carter Dunn, Shelby Just, Madison Kirchner, Ava Sauceda and Rayjen Tovar earned a Renaissance award and first place in the Scientific Challenge.
Addyson McDowall, Paisley Ortiz, Mya Rivas and Faithlyn Vasquez, also from Barnes Middle School, received first place honors in the Engineering Challenge.
Laine McCown, August Panozzo, Caleb Pape and Griffin Welfel of Weinert Elementary School will compete at state following a first place finish in the Fine Arts Challenge.
At state competition, teams will vie for a global competition spot to be held in Kansas City on May 22-25.
