Seguin High School BPA excels at regional competition

On Jan. 12, 25 Seguin High School Business Professionals of America (BPA) members competed against 250 students in the Area 3, Region 3 Regional Leadership Conference in hopes of qualifying for the State Leadership Conference in Dallas.

 

Seguin BPA brought home 37 awards including 14 first place, six second place, eight third place, three fourth place, three fifth place and three sixth place from the event, held in New Braunfels. The awards session was lead by Matador senior Wyatt Smith and junior Emilie Weber.

 

First place finishers in regional competition were Emilie Weber, Graphic Design Promotion, Business Meeting, Information Technology Concepts and Management, Marketing & HR Concepts, AJ Burns, Digital Marketing Concepts and Financial Math & Analysis Concepts, Wyatt Hubbard, Human Resource Management, Kate Sherwood, Legal Office Procedures, Kylie Yeomans, Medical Office Procedures, Trinity Ramirez, Personal Financial Management, Beyonce Harris, Presentation Management-Individual and Lena Deharde, Computer Programming Concepts.

 

First place team went to Leo Costilla, Stephen Garza, Cheney Stephenson and Neel Tamtam for Global Marketing and Andy McDowall, Karen Ranft, Kellie Ranft and Trinity Ramirez for Website Design.

 

Second place finishers included AJ Burns, Banking & Finance and Business Meeting Management, Lena Deharde, Digital Communications & Design Concepts, Amber Brown, Management, Marketing & HR Concepts and Danielle Xu, Parliamentary Procedures Concepts Open.

 

Second place team for Parliamentary Procedure was comprised of AJ Burns, Beyonce Harris, Cody Mazzurana, Christian Molina, Reagan Rodgers and Danielle Xu.

 

Third place went to Cody Mazzurrana, Intermediate Word Processing, Sophie Anderson, Personal Finance Management, Emilie Weber, Financial Math & Analysis Concepts, Andy McDowall, JAVA Programming, AJ Burns, Management, Marketing & HR Concepts and Briana Flores, Presentation Management-Individual.

 

Amber Brown, Business Meeting Management and Crystal Ruelas Villatoro, Entrepreneurship, took fourth place while the Small Business Management Team of Amber Brown and Lena Deharde also received fourth.

 

Fifth went Maricela Ramirez, Business Meeting Management, Kellie Ranft, Management, Marketing & HR Concepts and AJ Burns, Parliamentary Procedures Concepts Open.

 

Rounding out sixth was Maricela Ramirez, Fundamental Word Processing, Lena Deharde, Management, Marketing & HR Concepts and Beyonce Harris, Parliamentary Procedures Concepts Open.

 

At the March 6-9 state conference, students will participate in the Leadership Academy, Torch Award program and open events. Seguin will be leading the Texas Intern program and assisting with conference registration. Cody Mazzurana and Emilie Weber will be serving as Head Interns and will manage the program. Advisor Sharon Booth will oversee the Texas Interns as Intern Coordinator this year.
