Bill Lewis named interim superintendent

Bill LewisThe Seguin ISD Board of Trustees named Bill Lewis, the district's assistant superintendent of technology and curriculum support, interim superintendent during a special board meeting on March 30.
 
Lewis will serve as interim while trustees conduct a search for a permanent superintendent to lead the district of more than 7,000 students and 1,100 employees.
 
Trustees approved Lewis for the interim position on a 4-3 vote after interviewing him and a external candidate during the closed session portion of the meeting.
 
Lewis has served as assistant superintendent since 2014. He has been a Seguin ISD employee since 2007. His career in education began in 1993 as a teacher/coach in Austin.
 
He earned his bachelor's degree at the University of Texas-Austin and master's from Southwest Texas State. Lewis received his superintendent certification in 2011. He is past president of Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA).
