Public can see educational resources at Publisher’s Showcase
02/13/2017

Seguin ISD is hosting the Proclamation 2017 Publisher’s Showcase on Feb. 16, 4:30-6:30 p.m., at District Office located at 1221 E. Kingsbury St.

The State Board of Education (SBOE) issues proclamations to call for new instructional materials. Each proclamation lists the subject areas scheduled for review. It contains a schedule of adoption procedures, requirements, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and instructions for providing electronic files for braille and large type materials. Proclamations are named for the year the materials are available in the classroom.

The SBOE issued Proclamation 2017 in April 2015.  The adopted materials under Proclamation 2017 are scheduled to be available for use beginning in the 2017 - 2018 school year.

“The Publisher’s Showcase is held in support of Proclamation 17. We will have submitted publisher materials on display for review that may be used in our classrooms. These include resources for Languages Other Than English (Seguin ISD offers Spanish and French), Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses, Social Studies and Math courses” said Allison Pape, Seguin ISD coordinator of secondary education.

The showcase is open to the public. It also serves as an opportunity for Seguin ISD teacher committee members to complete material evaluation rubrics as part of the district adoption guidelines.
