Seguin ISD Celebrates Staff Awarded Teacher Incentive Allotment
02/10/2025

17 teachers across Seguin ISD were surprised by staff, faculty, and students today to celebrate their designation in the Texas Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) program. Teachers selected represent 8 campuses: Jefferson Elementary, Koennecke Elementary, Patlan Elementary, Rodriguez Elementary, Vogel Elementary, Weinert Elementary, Barnes Middle School, and Seguin High School.

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) recently notified the district of the teachers’ approval for the program, which provides teachers a pathway to increase their yearly salary. The additional compensation for those selected comes directly from the state.
“This designation is proof of what we already knew; we have strong and talented teachers in Seguin ISD,” Superintendent Dr. Veronica Vijil said. “Our teachers work tirelessly to provide our students with the best possible education, and I am thrilled to see their efforts rewarded by TEA.”

Teachers must meet rigorous standards under district criteria to qualify for a Recognized, Exemplary, or Master designation. TEA and Texas Tech University review teacher observation and performance data for quality, validity, and reliability before final approval.

The 2024-2025 school year marks the first year Seguin ISD has submitted teachers for the TIA program. The district looks forward to submitting additional teachers for TIA in the future.

“We are dedicated to expanding this program across our district,” Dr. Vijil said. “Our team is already working with teachers toward getting their designations next school year.”

Those who earn the distinction will receive the awarded amount each year for five years. These payments will be paid out as a one-time compensation sum based on several factors, including their designation. Information on the state’s TIA program can be found at https://tiatexas.org/.
