The newest addition to Seguin ISD is one step closer to opening now that the district has

broken ground on its new elementary school.

Board President Alejandro Guerra, Board Secretary Linda Duncan, Trustees Denise

Crettenden, and Grace Mueller, joined the Seguin ISD Leadership team for the groundbreaking

Ceremony.

Superintendent Dr. Veronica Vijil said, “We can all agree that a child’s learning environment

matters, and this state-of-the-art facility will help our students build their foundation of learning

and knowledge.”

The two-story campus off FM 725 in New Braunfels, is just two miles from the existing

McQueeney Elementary School. Voters supported the district’s land purchase and construction

plans in the 2019 and 2022 bonds.

Students and teachers will benefit from larger classrooms, collaborative spaces for each grade

level, and several secured outdoor learning spaces. The design’s large pick-up and drop-off

area will also provide additional student safety and traffic relief along FM 725.

The new McQueeney campus is scheduled to open in fall 2026.
