Seguin ISD staff is hosting Dyslexia Awareness training on Thursday, Jan. 18 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the district’s Administration Office located at 1221 E. Kingsbury St. in Seguin.
The training event, open to adults free of charge, is designed to give attendees a true dyslexia experience. Through interactive stations, participants will feel and experience the challenges and frustrations that students with dyslexia encounter daily. At the conclusion of the training, a question and answer session will be held with Seguin ISD dyslexia teachers to discuss the exercise.
“Our goal is that this experience will provide insight for parents and teachers and anyone interested in learning more about dyslexia. Our hope is that this will allow them to work more effectively with children with dyslexia and lead to greater empathy and understanding,” said Allison Higginbotham, Seguin ISD compliance and data support coordinator.
