“We are proud to have Dr. Gutierrez finally on board for Seguin ISD. His credentials are solid and he will begin to familiarize himself with the Seguin community as part of his 90 day plan. He is starting his Seguin ISD career just as we begin a new school year and open a high school. Exciting things are happening in Seguin ISD and I know Dr. Gutierrez is looking forward to leading the district and serving the community,” said Cinde Thomas-Jimenez, Seguin ISD school board president.

Gutierrez hails from Plano ISD where he has served as assistant superintendent since 2015. There, he implemented programs to connect more than 4,000 teachers to professional development opportunities. Prior to Plano he served as interim superintendent at Little Elm ISD for a year where he facilitated a five year strategic plan.

He has also served as an elementary principal and middle school assistant principal during his career. Dr. Gutierrez earned a bachelor’s degree from Angelo St. University, a master’s from Schreiner University and a doctorate from Texas Tech University.

In April the Board began the process, which included community input, to ultimately hire a lone finalist.
