Seguin High School juniors Chloe Luna, Isaiah Ramirez and Roman Ruiz have been selected as National Hispanic Scholars under the College Board National Hispanic Recognition Program.
The trio earned an invitation to apply for the prestigious program after each scored in the top 2.5 percent of Hispanic and Latino PSAT/NMSQT exam takers in the region.
“All of us at Seguin High School are extremely proud of Chloe, Isaiah and Roman. Each of these students represent what it means to be a Matador and are all around great students who come to school prepared to achieve each and every day. The fact that these students are being honored exemplifies the adage that hard work pays off,” said Hector Esquivel, Seguin High School principal.
According to the College Board, being named a National Hispanic Scholar is an academic honor that can be included on college applications. While it is not a scholarship, colleges use the program to identify academically exceptional Hispanic/Latino students.
Esquivel says that the three students will apply the distinction of being a National Hispanic Scholar toward their future goals.
“I know that our three National Hispanic Scholars are looking forward to their senior year at Seguin High School and are considering their college opportunities. This is a great accomplishment for them,” he said.
