During the Aug. 29 regular school board meeting, trustees approved the hire of Jason Schmidt to lead the Curriculum and Instruction Department.
Schmidt obtained his Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Northern Iowa and earned his Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University in Kingsville. He currently maintains his certification in Secondary History, Grades (8-12) and Principal (EC-12). He currently serves as the Academic Dean of Instruction for Brandeis High School (5A) in Northside ISD.
During his 20 years in education, Schmidt has served in leadership instruction roles at the campus and district administrative level. More specifically he has been a secondary classroom teacher, department chair lead teacher, district instructional support specialist, high school assistant principal and an academic dean of instruction.
His experiences have been focused in the area of student achievement and sound quality instructional practices. As his role as an instructional leader of a large comprehensive high school campus, he is an integral member of the district’s academic design team which is a collaborative group focused on student learning and achievement.
Schmidt has experience with oversight of all state required assessments, professional learning communities, dual credit participation, response to intervention, school improvement plans, strategic planning, accelerated instruction, district/campus data analysis, vertical team planning, custom pacing instructional guides, staffing and budget and various school safety initiatives.
He is a well rounded educator with a philosophy of servant leadership, building strong, positive relationships, ensuring effective communication and modeling a strong work ethic. Schmidt is proud husband and father and a dedicated public education professional. He is very excited about the opportunity to serve the students, staff and parents in Seguin ISD.
