Band excels at District, Region auditions

Members of the Seguin High School Matador Band performed in the TMEA 5A and 6A District and Region auditions on Nov. 27 and in San Antonio and New Braunfels.

 

Thirty-one Matadors earned a spot on the 5A District Band, including Alexia Richardson, Ana Godeck, Peyton Silvius, Holly Stange, Lauren Sharp, Agar Huanca, Victoria Ramirez, Emily Hunter, Landon Vogt, Gwyneth Tallier, Ariyan Clack, Bellamy Henry, Mickey Zukerman, Daniel Aceituno, Kayla Hinton, Sam Kuempel, Stephen Garza, Monica Martinez, AJ Burns, Joshua Fuentes, Ethan Bowles, Zachariah Kaplan, Christian Bertling Brennen Turner, Beckett Legore, Casey Silvius, Eliezer Vargas, Lena Deharde, Jeremy Porter, Valen Poyner and Christian Deharde.

 

The 18 students who reached 5A Region Band are Alexia Richardson, Ana Godeck, Lauren Sharp, Agar Huanca, Emily Hunter, Landon Vogt, Gwyneth Tallier, Ariyan Clack, Mickey Zukerman, Daniel Aceituno, Stephen Garza, Ethan Bowles, Brennen Turner, Beckett Legore, Casey Silvius, Eliezer Vargas, Lena Deharde and Jeremy Porter.

 

Alexia Richardson, Daniel Aceituno, Ethan Bowles, Brennen Turner, Beckett Legore, Casey Silvius, and Eliezer Vargas received 5A Region Orchestra honors.

 

Alexia Richardson, Lauren Sharp, Landon Vogt, Gwyneth Tallier, Ariyan Clack, Mickey Zukerman, Daniel Aceituno, Ethan Bowles, Brennen Turner and Beckett Legore advanced to the 5A Area Audition to be held in January.

 

Percussionists Ben Gustafson and Mason Crow auditioned in the 6A classification against other 6A regional high schools. Both earned spots in the 6A District and Region Bands.

 

“I am extremely proud of our bands and the individual performances made by these students during the District and Region auditions. They have worked extremely hard and are truly deserving of these honors,” said Stan Mauldin, Seguin ISD director of bands.

 

The Seguin community is invited to see and hear the band in action at the annual Holiday Concert on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Additionally, members of the band will be performing at the KWED Toy and Food Drive at the station’s studios on Friday, Dec. 7 from 7-8 a.m.
