Members of the Seguin High School Theatre Arts program attended the annual Texas Thespian Festival in Grapevine Nov. 15-17.
At the event, Amber Mawande-Spytek received a Musical Theatre scholarship to the tune of $1,000.00. She also received a superior rating and qualified for nationals in Solo Musical.
Excellent ratings were earned by Naomi Gomez in Stage Management, Jonah Reilly in Monologue, Jeremy Marmolejo in Solo Musical, Maya Clark and Jamee McDaniel in Duet Musical and the team of Ellie Follis, Jade Evink, Georgia Nickel and Nicole Salzillo in Group Scene.
Gabriella Medrano, Isaac Gonzales, Carley Perez, Baileigh Aldridge and Naomi Gomez competed in Team Challenge.
Additionally, Serenity DeLeon is a state thespian officer candidate.
Lydia Robles serves as Seguin High School theatre director, while Justin Tristan is Seguin High School technical theatre director.
"This trip is always such a blast and so rewarding for our students. The annual festival hosts more than 7,000 theatre students from Texas. Matador thespians listened to Tony Award winning actor Jason Robert Brown, attended workshops taught by industry professionals, auditioned for scholarships and competed in acting and technical theatre events," Robles said.
