The annual SMART Program Field Day, hosted by the Seguin ISD Matador Special Services Department, was a success. Teachers, aides, community members, TLU students/athletes, Seguin High School cheerleaders and parents were on hand to support these outstanding students at the TLU track on April 20. They participated in many field day activities including running races, adapted javelin throw, long jump and much more.
"On April 16, the Seguin High School One Act Play Company competed at the Region level for the first time since 2011. This has been such an amazing experience! Overall, we were able to earn Honorable Mention All Star Cast--Jeremy Marmolejo, All Star Cast--Amber Mawande and All Star Crew--Carley Perez. Thank you to all of the teachers, students, parents and community members who have supported us this year," said Lydia Robles, Seguin High School theatre director.
The Seguin High School Varsity choirs competed at the UIL Choir Concert and Sightreading Contest on April 17-18 in San Antonio. The Varsity Mixed Choir earned a First Division in Concert and scores of 1, 2 and 2 in Sightreading for an overall Second Division rating. Leonardo Garcia serves as choir director.
The Seguin High School FFA Vet Science team qualified for state following a seventh place finish out of 60 competitors. Cassidy Doege, far right, earned fourth place out of 222 individual competitors. State competition will be held in College Station on April 28.

Patlan Elementary School students in J.T. Martin's class recently spent a beautiful day at the Irma Lewis Seguin Outdoor Learning Center.
"Seguin Student Council has won the election for State Secretary for the Texas Association of Student Councils. We will be one of four schools representing the state and one of the largest StuCo leadership organizations in the United States. Mr. Vera and I are so proud of these kids. They worked hard on our platform, Mental Disorders are not Adjectives, they campaigned, and they proved they really wanted this position. The Seguin High School Percussion Ensemble Performed at the 2018 Music For All National Percussion Festival in Indianapolis. The ensemble was one of only 10 groups selected from throughout the United States. The ensemble is under the direction of Craig Turner.
