Erskine Health Science Academy and HOSA recently hosted the first of six blood drives for the 2016-2017 school year. Students, faculty and community members donated approximately 47 units of blood.
Ball Early Childhood Center Pre-K students visited Teatro De Artes De Juan Seguin's Cultural Arts Center for the 2016 Hispanic Heritage Month Passing Traditions to the Next Generation Field Trip. Students enjoyed learning How to Make a Piñata, Zarape Construction, had a Lesson in Spanish and learned what Gardens and Trees Do For Kids! Deputy Superintendent, Dr. Gorordo, was on hand to learn and join in on the fun activities.
Troy DePalermo, campus technologist at Weinert Elementary, received a warm send off from students and staff during a surprise Temporary Goodbye Party on Sept. 23. Troy, or Mr. D as he's known to his students, is a reservist and has received deployment orders. The students were relieved to hear that Mr. D will return to Weinert before the end of the 2016-17 school year. Best wishes Mr. D and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

The Seguin High School Matador Band Drumline competed in the Dripping Springs Invitational Drumline Competition on Sept. 17. The Matadors earned first place in the 5A division along with outstanding snare line, outstanding tenor line and outstanding front ensemble awards. The musicians also earned the eighth highest score among all 5A and 6A drumlines that competed in the contest. Please congratulate all the percussion students for their hard work and success. Craig Turner serves as the Seguin High School percussion director while Stan Mauldin is the Seguin High School director of bands.
Raising the bar for Grandparents Day at McQueeney Elementary School!
Superintendent Roane attended the Guadalupe County chapter of the Texas Retired Teachers Association (TRTA) on Sept. 13. During the meeting, he presented President Evelyn Leggitt with a check to cover TRTA membership dues for Seguin ISD's 30 2016 retirees.

Rodriguez Elementary recently hosted a Grandparents Lunch in the school cafeteria for all students and their Grandparents. The cafeteria was full of love and laughter.
Grandparents recently joined the staff and students of Ball Early Childhood Center in celebrating Grandparents Day. Grandparents are in integral part of helping nurture a child's love of learning.
