President - Ishmael Flores (District 2)

Mr. Flores was elected to the Board in 1999. He is the IT Manager for Continental Automotive Systems in Seguin. A Seguin HS graduate and a graduate of Southwest Texas State University where he majored in manufacturing technology, Mr. Flores serves as President on the Board. Mr. Flores is Master Board Certified and a member of both the School Board Advocacy Network and the Mexican-America School Board Association (MASBA). He also serves as the chairman of the Seguin ISD Diversity Council. A veteran, Mr. Flores is married to Mona Flores and they have a child who graduated from Seguin HS and another who is a current student.
Secretary - Louis Q. Reyes III (District 6)

Mr. Reyes was first elected to the Board in 1992. He is the account agent for Allstate Insurance and offices in Seguin. A graduate of Seguin HS and of San Antonio Community College where he majored in accounting, Mr. Reyes was the first Hispanic President of the Seguin ISD Board of Trustees. His list of service achievements includes numerous business, community and academic-related accomplishments including work with the Seguin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, South Texas Youth DARE Rally and the Mexican-American Chambers of Commerce. Mr. Reyes was also instrumental in bringing the Naval JROTC to Seguin HS. He is a veteran and is married to Linda Reyes; and their two children are also Seguin HS graduates.
Trustee - Ricardo Guerra (District 1)

Ricardo Guerra is serving his second term on the Seguin ISD Board of Trustees, having been most recently elected in 2012. After retiring from Continental/Motorola after 36 years, he remains active in the Seguin community as a volunteer with the Our Lady of Guadalupe Food Bank, LULAC community garden manager, diabetes prevention instructor for TIPHER and Knights of Columbus member. Mr. Guerra also volunteers at Patlan Elementary School as part of the WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) program. He is married with one son and is proud to have three granddaughters.
Trustee - Craig Thomas (District 3)

Mr. Thomas was elected to the District 3 seat in May 2014. He is a mortgage finance banker. He is a 1986 graduate of Seguin High School, and class of 1990 at Texas A&M University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Engineering. He has 14 years of experience in engineering and sales for United Technologies, Carrier Corporation, specializing in the commercial and industrial markets. He also owned and operated an HVAC contracting business for four years. Mr. Thomas is a life member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and has served on the Breeders Greeters Committee for 10 years. He is also a member of the Texas A&M Century Club, 12th Man Foundation and Kappa Alpha Alumni Association. He is also active in the Lake McQueeney Ski Bees and a member of Lake Breeze Ski Lodge.
Trustee - John Holt (District 4)

Mr. Holt is a 1989 graduate of North Mesquite High School and a six year veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserves. At Southwest Texas State University, he earned an AAS in respiratory therapy and a Bachelor of Science in respiratory care to become a registered Respiratory Therapist. Currently, Mr. Holt is a licensed contractor in Seguin and owner of a handyman and remodeling company. He is also a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist. His wife Christy is a librarian and he is the proud father of two daughters who are enrolled in Seguin ISD schools. He is a member of First United Methodist Church of Seguin where he volunteers on several committees.
Trustee - Barbara Effenberger (District 5)

Mrs. Effenberger was elected to the Board in 2012. She is a retired educator who served as an elementary school teacher and guidance counselor in Seguin ISD for 23 years. She is a graduate of Texas Lutheran University and acquired post graduate studies at TAMU and Texas State. In 2006 she was awarded the TLU Alumni Distinguished Service Award in Church and Community. She served on the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature, as Guadalupe County Democratic Party County Chairman, leader in RSVP Advisory Council and as a CASA volunteer. She continues to actively advocate for improving funding for Texas public schools and benefits for educators and retired teachers. She is committed to seeing that every child is given an opportunity to learn the skills needed to have a successful future. She is married to Don Effenberger, also a retired teacher.

Mrs. Sewell was appointed by her fellow Board members to serve District 7 in January 2016. A Seguin resident since 2010, Mrs. Sewell is a real estate agent with Heritage Texas Properties. She possesses a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration & Public Relations from Principia College. Mrs. Sewell managed the Boerne Bradfield Properties real estate office of 15-20 employees from 2001-2006. Additionally, Mrs. Sewell has extensive volunteer experience in Texas public schools, having served as an elementary reading mentor for nine years, PTO board member/committee chairperson for eight years, goals committee business representative for six years and elementary substitute teacher for two years.
