    Members of the Seguin High School choirs attended the Texas State Choir Camp in San Marcos on July 11-14. The students received instruction from Texas State University choral staff and many of the state's finest choral educators. Campers were exposed to various choral music styles, instructed on proper vocal techniques and performed a concert featuring songs written in five different languages. Senior Christopher Inocencio was named Outstanding Camper in the Tenor section.

More than 135 students will participate in the Associate Degree and Core Complete pathways this fall.     Seguin High School administrators attended the National High Schools That Work Conference this past week in Louisville, Kentucky. The conference's focus this year is on developing College and Career Academies within high schools. Our leadership team is excited to bring this approach to Seguin High School as we work to prepare ALL our students for post-secondary success!

  • Seguin High School Class of 2016 graduate Caleb Moreno recently received the Outstanding Performance Award from the UIL State Solo Ensemble Keyboard Percussion Solo Contest held Memorial Day. Of the approximately 100,000 students participating in the regional UIL music contests and the 25,000 musicians who performed at TSSEC, only 2-3 percent of the solo performances earned the distinguished honor of being recognized as an Outstanding Performer. Caleb will continue his education at TLU in pursuit of a dual degree of music education and performance.

  • This week, young Matadors are building soda water bottle rockets, cardboard and balsa wood airplanes and boomerangs during Up, Up and Away! camp. Instructor Dr. Don Hastings is imparting knowledge on how and why things fly. On the last day of camp, they will build and launch Estes solid fuel rockets before taking home what they have designed and built.
