Kick starting the Seguin ISD Holiday Concert Series was Weinert Elementary in their 2nd Annual 1st Grade Christmas Concert!
Two Barnes Middle School students did extremely well at the Middle School Region Band auditions in San Antonio on Dec. 3. Eighth grader Reid Skinner (left) made the top Region Band for alto sax, placing third out of 36 players. Reid will represent Barnes in the Top Band at the Middle School Region Band Clinic and Concert Dec. 9-10 in San Antonio. Seventh grader Will Kuempel (baritone) made district honors as he placed eighth out of 31 baritone players. Noel De La Cruz serves as Barnes Middle School director of bands.

Seguin ISD Board of Trustees, SHS Athletes, Coaches and the Matador Band were all on hand to help gather donations at the annual KWED Holiday Food and Toy Drive. The band did an excellent job playing holiday tunes not only for those taking donations but also for those passing by.
A big thank you to the Seguin Education Foundation for visiting each SISD campus on Dec. 1 for the annual Prize Patrol program. SEF delivered grant awards to fund innovative classroom projects to the tune of $59,500. Thanks SEF for supportuing Seguin ISD schools!
Rodriguez Elementary families participated in the annual Fall Carnival and Book Fair. Hundreds of individuals were on campus to support the school and participate in the many games, activities and performances.
In partnership with Teatro de Artes de Juan Seguin, Rodriguez Elementary second and third grade students performed a Ballet Folklorico routine during the Fall Carnival. Four homerooms were taught a dance from various regions of Mexico during music class. This partnership is a great learning opportunity to emphasize the importance of different cultures for all Rodriguez students.
"We were so lucky to have the TLU Chemistry Honor Society Outreach Program at Patlan Elementary to expand our learning opportunities with a chemistry show. The program introduces students to some amazing science and fires up their interest in STEM fields," said Linda Guzman, Patlan Elementary principal.
Dribble, Shoot, Score! Future Matadors took part in a skills-based basketball clinic coordinated by PE coaches Ramiro Ramos and Pete Riojas at Rodriguez Elementary. Earlier in the year, students participated in a Punt, Pass & Kick clinic for football. There will be more clinics to come in the spring to promote healthy bodies and minds. Go Matadors!
