• Members of the Superintendent's Student Advisory Team, along with Dr. Gutierrez, present Elizabeth Macias of the American Red Cross with a check for $7,365.00. The money was raised in September by Seguin ISD for Hurricane Harvey relief.

  • Following another successful season that resulted in a three deep playoff run, eight members of the Matador Volleyball team earned all-district honors for their outstanding play.   • Seguin ISD Matador Award of Excellence employees were honored at the Nov. 14 board meeting for exemplary service and going above and beyond their everyday duties.   • Students in Erin Borchers' and Stormie Welch's seventh grade Pre-AP Science classes show off their recent creations.

    "Our incredible students used their learned knowledge and imagination to create a human body replica out of recycleable materials and everyday items. This year, the students went beyond our requirements and delivered some amazing projects," Borchers said.

    Students with their projects are, from left, Cyndle Norman, Justice Gonzalez, Christian Soefje, Kenneth Soefje, Aiden Whittlesey, Logan Whitten, Manuel Morales, Gunner Ruhl and Luke Bertling.

  • Weinert Elementary kindergarten and first grade students took part in Native American Day hosted by the the Irma Lewis Seguin Outdoor Learning Center. Students enjoyed stations such as storytelling, fishing, science, archery, sand art and creating dream catchers.

  • The competition was fierce as evidenced by the boys on the starting line at the annual Jefferson Elementary Turkey Trot, held Nov. 14. Music teacher Mr. Robinson tried to keep up with students throughout the day but always managed to finish last.

  • Recently at All Region Band auditions, Briesemeister Middle School student Kayla Hinton, trumpet (center), earned a spot in the Region Band and will represent her campus at the Region Concert on Dec. 9. Christian Bertling (tuba) and Anna Busskohl (bassoon) earned district distinctions. Louie Blancarte serves as Briesemeister band director.

  • Fifteen Seguin High School Choir members received TMEA All-Region Choir honors on Nov.10-11. Oliver Bowles and Ashleigh Johnson were named to the All-Region Mixed Choir. Danielle Croll, Valeria Hernandez, Natalie Akins, Ellie Follis, Logan Medrano and Julia Montgomery earned All-Region Treble Choir. Baylee Blankenship, Lauren Price, Cassidy Doege, Agar Huanca, Timothy Kraft, Richard Cross and Richard Rivera received All-Region Honor Choir honors. The students then participated in a two-day clinic led by some of the finest directors in the area which culminated with the All-Region Choir concert.

    Leonardo Garcia serves as the Seguin ISD choir director.

  • The members of the Seguin High School Navy JROTC program hosted the annual Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 10 at Matador Stadium. Superintendent Dr. Matthew Gutierrez thanked all of Seguin ISD's 63 Veterans who have dedicated their post-military careers toward educating the community's children.
